The visit begins with the Hassan Tower, the minaret of an unfinished mosque.

The tower was intended to be the tallest minaret in the world, along with the adjacent mosque.

However, upon the death of Yacoub El Mansour, construction work was interrupted and the site remained unfinished.

Then the Mohammed V Mausoleum, which houses the tomb of the King of Morocco, Mohammed V, and his two sons, King Hassan II and Prince Moulay Abdallah. The building is considered a masterpiece of modern architecture of the Alaouite dynasty.

Walk through the Kasbah of the Oudayas, located at the mouth of the Bouregreg River. It was built in the 12th century by the Almohads.

Originally, this Kasbah was intended for the military defense of the colony. Later, it gave its name to the entire surrounding city.

The Kasbah of the Oudayas is a town of narrow, winding streets and houses nestled within protective ramparts. In 2012, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with other sites in the city.

Then visit of the mellah (Jewish quarter), where many Jewish families still live.

The mellah of Rabat was created in 1808 during the reign of Sultan Moulay Slimane ben Mohamed, when the Jews of Rabat were forced to settle in this district above the cliffs overlooking the Bouregreg River, not far from Bab Diouana.

Breakfast at the hotel, then departure to Volubilis. An ancient Roman city where the best-preserved and most visited archaeological remains in Morocco are located. The area has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Excavations show that the first inhabitants of the city were Carthaginians in the 3rd century BC. Later, in 42 AD, the city was annexed to the Roman Empire.

Visit of the Bou Inania Medersa, which means “school”; it is an Islamic university built in 1350 by the Marinid Sultan Abu Inan.

The medersa is one of the institutions in Muslim cities for teaching Islamic sciences. Then the Attarine Medersa, built in 1320. It is fairly modest in size and could accommodate around 60 students; however, it is the most richly decorated in the city.

Arrival at the entrance of the Karaouiyne Mosque and University, built in 859, one of the oldest universities in the world. The contrast between the artistic architecture and the limited dimensions of the mosque gives the impression of a true jewel, carved in the finest detail.

The largest is the Aben Danan Synagogue. Built in 1600, it was recently renovated and now houses a museum about the Jewish community of Fez, as well as a visit to the Safroud cemetery where Rabbi Lahou Harroch and Rabbi Raphaël Moshe Elbaz are buried.

Bou-khessissat Street is the most beautiful street in the mellah, with aligned houses featuring balconies open to the outside, whereas Arab houses open inward.

The mellah, the Moroccan Jewish quarter, derives its name from the Arabic word “salt,” as salt had great value in Antiquity and Jews used it as currency.

Departure to discover the desert via the villages of Khamlia. Located seven kilometers from Merzouga, this unusual place bears enduring traces of trade. Also nicknamed the “black village” or the “African village,” it is home to the “Bambaras,” also known as the Gnawa, descendants of enslaved people from sub-Saharan Africa.

Not far away are abandoned mines, which are still subject to artisanal exploitation by miners in search of quartz and kohl.

Then a walk to La Koutoubia, an emblematic religious building, remodeled by the Almohads from 1162. They built an austere and sober mosque near the former booksellers’ souk, hence the nickname Koutoubia, the “mosque of the booksellers.”

Visit of the Bahia Palace, renowned for the richness of its architecture. Its construction is relatively recent, dating from the 19th century, and was inspired by Arab and Andalusian styles. The palace foundations appeared in 1880 under the will of the vizier Sidi Moussa, head of the Moroccan kingdom.

He wished to build a luxurious residence for the pleasure of one of his companions. He thus offered a palace composed of around 160 rooms! This would explain the name of the monument meaning “palace of the beautiful.”

Visit of the Saadian Tombs, the only remaining vestiges of the Saadian dynasty that ruled between 1524 and 1659. They house the tombs of the Saadian royal family.

Lunch during the day and in the afternoon, stroll through the souks and the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square, listed as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

In a traditional atmosphere, you will discover the art of henna practiced by Moroccan women. You will learn to draw the basic henna patterns.

The city is recognized as a port city with the oldest fortified port in the world still preserved.

Lunch and continuation to visit the souks and the port of Essaouira, which is deeply linked to the city’s history, formerly known as the “Port of Timbuktu.”

Lunch in Oualidia; its lagoon is one of the most beautiful on the Atlantic coast.

Continuation to El Jadida, also called Mazagan, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A fortified city built by the Portuguese at the beginning of the 16th century, which was only taken back by the Moroccans in 1769.

Walk along the fortifications of the Portuguese city, offering magnificent views of the city, the port, and the sea.
